We’ve already been doing this for nearly two decades in our work as founders and as VCs at Kleiner Perkins, where we helped companies create the world’s most efficient fuel cells, the most power-efficient chips, and the most capable drones.

Now, as Matter, we’re solely focused on building the next generation of HardTech startups developing the technologies that matter most, in the world we actually live in.

Mel TangFounding Operating Partner & CFO

Mel is a seasoned finance executive who has helped build a number of technology startups across consumer electronics, content and media, and marketplaces. Prior to joining MVP, he was the Chief Financial Officer at SpinLaunch (space launch), Ring (consumer electronics; acquired by Amazon), SpareFoot (self-storage marketplace), and Demand Media (content & media; IPO). Mel began his career as an investment banker at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and later UBS where he advised on over $18B of mergers & acquisitions and equity and debt financings.
